1. Who we are

Comment Wars ("we", "us") is a website at commentwars.live where people start battles and compete for the funniest, wittiest or most savage comment. It is run by Harjeet Singh, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Contact: commentwarsapp@gmail.com.

By using Comment Wars, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

2. Who can use Comment Wars

You must be 18 or older to use Comment Wars.

3. Guests and accounts

  • Guests: you can use Comment Wars without signing up. We give your browser an anonymous guest ID and an auto-generated name. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, you may lose access to your guest battles and points.
  • Accounts: you can create an account with an email address and password. You keep your points when you upgrade from guest.
  • Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens under your account or guest ID.
  • Usernames must not impersonate someone else, include hate or slurs, or mislead people. We may change or remove usernames that break these rules. You can change your username once a week.

4. Community rules

Comment Wars is for roasting comments, not people. Don't post anything that:

  • Attacks, threatens or harasses a person or group, including hate based on race, religion, caste, gender, sexuality, disability or nationality.
  • Is sexual content, or sexualises anyone under 18 in any way. We report child sexual exploitation to the authorities.
  • Shares someone's private information, such as phone numbers, addresses, private photos or messages.
  • Targets private individuals, such as classmates or coworkers, by full name with insults.
  • Encourages violence, self-harm or illegal activity.
  • Is spam, a scam, or advertising we didn't approve.
  • Copies other people's work in a way that breaks copyright.

5. Fair play

Don't manipulate votes. That means no multiple accounts, bots, scripts, or trading votes. Don't try to break, overload or get around the site's security. We may remove votes or points that come from cheating.

6. Battles, comments and points

  • Battles, comments, usernames and reactions in public battles are public. Anyone visiting the site can see them. Your username, your reaction totals and your best comments from public battles also appear on your profile page.
  • Private rooms: when you start a battle you can make it a private room. Only people who have the room's invite link can see it and join. Anyone who has the link can come in and can share it, so only send it to people you trust. The creator can close the room to new people, remove comments and block people from the room. Points earned in a private room stay in that room and do not count on the public leaderboard.
  • The rules in sections 4 and 5, reporting, and the 18+ rule apply in private rooms too. If a private room, or something in it, is reported, we may look at it to decide what to do.
  • The person who starts a battle can delete it and remove comments on it. Battles cannot be edited once they start.
  • When a battle is deleted, it is hidden from everyone, but its comments and the points people earned are kept, so the leaderboard stays fair.
  • When you delete your own comment, it is removed, along with the points it earned.

7. Your content

You own what you post. By posting, you give Comment Wars a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, display and share it to run the site. This includes reposting popular battles and comments, with your username, on Comment Wars social media accounts such as Instagram and TikTok. If you want one of your reposted comments taken down, email us and we will remove it.

Only post content you have the right to share. When a battle is about something viral, describe it in your own words or link to it rather than copying someone else's work.

8. Reports and moderation

Anyone can report a battle or comment. We review reports and may remove content, remove points, or block a guest or account that breaks these Terms, with or without notice. We are not able to review everything before it is posted.

9. Copyright complaints

If you believe something on Comment Wars infringes your copyright, email commentwarsapp@gmail.com with a link to the content, a description of your work, and how to reach you. We will review it and remove infringing content.

10. No guarantees

Comment Wars is a new service provided "as is". It may change, have bugs, pause, or lose data. We don't promise it will always be available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site.

11. Changes and ending

We may update these Terms. If the changes are important, we will tell you on the site before they take effect. You can stop using Comment Wars at any time and ask us to delete your account.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. This does not take away rights you have under the laws of the country where you live.

13. Contact

Questions about these Terms: commentwarsapp@gmail.com.

Effective October 28, 2026

Comment Wars collects only what it needs to run the battles, keep score and stop abuse. We don't sell your data, show ads or use tracking cookies.

1. What we collect

  • Guest ID: an anonymous ID created when you first visit, saved in your browser so the site remembers you.
  • Your name on the site: an auto-generated name, or the username you choose.
  • What you post: battles, comments, the reactions you give, and reports you send, each linked to your guest ID or account.
  • Room membership: which private rooms you have joined, so the site can show them to you and keep everyone else out.
  • Account details (if you sign up): your email address and password. Passwords are stored in scrambled (hashed) form, and we never see them.
  • Technical data: your IP address and browser details, which our hosting and delivery providers process when pages load.

Comment Wars saves your sign-in session and your name in your browser's local storage. It does not use advertising or analytics cookies.

2. How we use it

  • To run the site: show battles and comments, count reactions and keep the leaderboard.
  • To keep it safe: review reports (including reports about content in private rooms), remove content and block cheating or abuse.
  • To email you the confirmation and password-reset messages you ask for.
  • To reply to you when you email us.
  • To repost popular battles and comments, with your username, on Comment Wars social media, as described in the Terms.

3. Who processes it for us

These providers handle data on our behalf. Because some of them run worldwide networks, your information may be processed outside Canada.

4. What is public

Your username, and your battles, comments and reactions in public battles, are public. So are the reaction totals and best comments shown on your profile page. Don't put personal information in them. Anything inside a private room can be seen by the people in that room, and anyone with the invite link can join, so only share the link with people you trust. Reports, email addresses and IP addresses are never shown publicly.

5. How long we keep it

  • Battles, comments and reactions stay until they are deleted.
  • A deleted battle is hidden but kept, so the points people earned stay fair. We will erase it fully if you ask.
  • Reports are kept as long as needed to handle them, and no longer than 12 months.
  • Account details are kept until you delete your account or ask us to.

6. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or to delete your account, by emailing commentwarsapp@gmail.com. We will reply within 30 days. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Alberta's Information and Privacy Commissioner, or the data protection authority where you live.

7. Security

The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), and the database only lets each person change their own data. No online service is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use anywhere else.

8. Age

Comment Wars is for people 18 and older. If we learn that someone under 18 is using it, we will delete their data.

9. Changes and contact

We will post any changes to this policy on the site, with a new effective date. Privacy questions or requests: commentwarsapp@gmail.com, run by Harjeet Singh, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
